As I work on my atomic bomb oil painting studies I came across a poem that my deceased husband wrote that I would like to share.
LONG CAN BE BEAUTIFUL.
OUR YEARS TOGETHER
A COMMODITY WITH LOVE
AS IT COMPOUND INTEREST,
WITH DIVIDENDS AS I TOUCH
YOUR FAMILIAR FLESH LYING
BESIDE ME AND FEEL THE YEARS
IN THAT TOUCH AS A FORM OF PEACE.
DIVIDENDS THAT CAN NEVER
BE SPENT BUT GO ON GROWING,
THAT IS WHAT WE HAVE AND
IT CANNOT BE TAKEN AWAY OR SPENT,
THAT LONGNESS, THAT LOVE.

This is why this project in process is important to me. JWE, wrote and talked about it and he was there to document this historical event of the Operation Buster Jangle at the Nevada Test Site 1951 as a motion picture cameraman for the United State Army. His last words to a team of doctors when they asked him if he smoked he replied no but I cover the atomic bomb. I thought to myself he is taking this burden with him.
